“If you concentrate of finding whatever is good in every situation, you will discover that your life will suddenly be filled with gratitude, a feeling that nurtures the soul.” Harold Kushner
Today I am grateful for everything working out for my youngest daughter’s health last night. She had been having some digestive problems and I took her to the walk-in clinic where we waited for almost two hours only to have the doctor tell us we would have to go to the hospital.
After much panic, obvious from my daughter and concealed in me, we arrived at emergency. We were in and out of triage quickly and into an examining room. The reason we had to go to emergency was my daughter’s inability to urinate. As we waited for a nurse to come in and examine my daughter I prayed that everything would work out quickly, easily, and painlessly for my daughter and that she would be fine and ended with, “this or something greater, and so it is.”
Almost immediately, the nurse quickly brought in a portable ultrasound and scanned her kidneys and bladder. She said that although she saw no sign of infection, it would be good if my daughter would try to urinate because otherwise she would have to have a catheter inserted. I urged my daughter to try and we headed to a private restroom. For some reason, known only by God, the weird “mind-over-matter-when-you-get-to-the-doctor-everything-gets-better”phenomenon occurred and she had no problem going. After me doing a fantastic “pee-dance” (while my daughter looked on as if I was nuts), we went back to our examination room. The nurse again brought in the ultrasound machine and determined that a catheter would not be needed. Now all we had to do was to wait for the pediatrician to examine her.
Although we did have to wait a while because the pediatrician was called to an emergency, both my daughter and I had a renewed sense of peace and well–being. When the doctor arrived he did many tests and neurological games with my daughter (after I also mentioned that she has had frequent headaches) and found nothing wrong. I had a very clear knowing that all of this was playing out the way it was supposed to and that all would be well.
Although it was still a long night with my daughter in pain sleeping in my bed (something she hasn’t done in years) while I sent her healing energy, she awoke late this morning with a spring in her step and feeling great! Could it be the prayers I said? Could it be the peacefulness we felt? Was it the healing energy I sent her? Was it all a lesson? Who knows? All I know is that I am so thankful that my daughter is well!
Much Love,
Peace Goddess
